First of all, whoever ordered the weather for Barks, Brews & Boos… we need to talk.

It was HOT. But apparently, a little sunshine was not going to stop the Bay Area dog community from showing up for Halloween. My portrait slots filled up, then I somehow ended up photographing even more pups than planned. Definitely not complaining, although I was very ready for some water by the end of it.

And the costumes? Come on..

Angels, devils & a witch with a familiar

Sammy and Gabby came in as an angel and a devil, which obviously raised the very important question: who was going to be the better model? The answer, obviously, is that they were both ridiculously cute. So much for making a decision.

Then I got to photograph a little witch and her black cat sidekick. If you're going to show up to a Halloween photoshoot, arriving with your own familiar is a pretty strong move. 🐈‍⬛

A few of the portraits from the day are below, and I’m still smiling at how well these little characters committed to the assignment.

Meet Keanu 🖤

Among all the costumed cuties was Keanu, a very handsome pup available for adoption through California Bully Rescue.

Barks, Brews & Boos was organized in support of the rescue, so getting to photograph Keanu was a lovely extra part of the day. He deserves a home of his own, and I hope his photos help a few more people notice him.

If you're considering adopting, go check out California Bully Rescue and see whether Keanu might be your guy! (can't imagine why not.. just look at him!)

Thank you for bringing your pups

Huge thanks to Bay Area Dog Days and Dogs Only Social Club for putting the event together, and to everyone who stopped by with their pups. You kept me busy in the best possible way. I came home hot, tired, and with a camera roll full of excellent dogs. Honestly, there are worse ways to spend a day.
