Sometimes, a photoshoot takes on a life of its own. You show up with an idea, a plan, and some big goals for capturing the perfect shots, but there’s always that one dog who’s just too full of personality to follow the script. Enter Dobby:
Dobby, a 7-month-old husky mix wasn’t here to be the model I imagined. Nope. He wasn’t interested in posing or sitting still for that perfectly staged shot. Instead, Dobby was ready to turn the whole photoshoot into a delightful, whirlwind adventure, and honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way. I knew he had big paws to fill the moment I met him, but I wasn’t quite prepared for just how much this goofy, bouncy pup would take over the day. From the get-go, it was clear: Dobby was not here to “sit pretty.” He was here to have fun.
As soon as we stepped into the studio, Dobby was ready to roll. He bounded around with all the excitement of a puppy who had just discovered a brand-new space to explore. The camera? Oh, that was just something to give him attention. Every time I’d point it in his direction, Dobby would tilt his head, flash his best “who, me?” expression, and—zoom—he’d be off, darting around like a little whirlwind. Trying to get him to sit for a shot was like trying to catch lightning in a bottle. One minute he was posing like a pro, the next he was chasing his tail or jumping into my lap. Dobby wasn’t about to follow any posed directions. He had his own agenda, and it mostly involved being as goofy as possible. Sure, we didn’t get the perfect shots, but what we captured was something better: the pure, unfiltered joy of a playful, lovable puppy doing what he does best—being himself.
Dobby is currently available for adoption at Berkeley Humane.
