I’m Silke, the photographer behind Feral & Fab Photography. East Bay dogs have a pretty great setup. They spend their mornings on winding trails, race through open fields, splash along bay beaches, and somehow always know exactly where the best smells are. From the redwoods of Oakland and the hills of Berkeley to the shoreline paths and open spaces scattered throughout the East Bay, every dog has their own favorite corner of the world, and I never get tired of watching them explore it.
Sessions are calm but never stiff, I set the direction, your dog decides what to do with it. My goal is simple: I want you to recognize your dog in the photos, not an overly styled version of them. So when you look at them in 15 years, it feels like they’re right there with you again.
And yes , we’ll absolutely get those clean, frame-worthy images too. The kind you actually want on your walls, not just your camera roll.

These are a few of my favorite East Bay spots, places with beautiful light, plenty of room to explore, and lots of opportunities for dogs to do their very important dog things. From quiet shoreline paths and open fields to winding trails beneath the trees, each location offers something a little different.

Every session is built around your dog, their personality, their energy, and what brings out their best. Even if they’re shy, sensitive, or a little unsure at first. After your shoot, you’ll receive a curated gallery to choose from, with options for prints, wall art, and keepsakes if you want to turn your images into something you actually want to live with (not just forget in your camera roll).

FAQ
My dog is shy, reactive, or a bit chaotic, is that okay?
Yes, totally!
There’s no such thing as a dog that’s “too much” for this. The quirks, the chaos, the shyness, the over-excited energy… that’s what makes them them. My job is to work with who they are, not turn them into something they’re not.
We’ll take things at their pace, keep it relaxed, and make sure they feel comfortable enough to just be themselves. So when you look at them in 15 years, it feels like they’re right there with you again.
How do East Bay photoshoots work?
The East Bay has an incredible mix of locations, from quiet shoreline paths and open fields to wooded trails and tucked-away green spaces. I have a few go-to spots that work beautifully for dog sessions and are available for instant booking.
If you’re not sure which one is the best fit yet, I’ll help you choose based on your dog’s personality and the kind of feel you’re drawn to. Some dogs do best with lots of space to roam, others prefer something quieter with fewer distractions. The goal is always the same: a place where your dog can relax, explore, and just be themselves.
What if my dog gets overwhelmed?
Many of the locations I offer in the East Bay are intentionally chosen because they provide more space and fewer distractions than a busy city environment. That extra breathing room can make a huge difference for dogs who are nervous, sensitive, or easily overwhelmed.
Every dog is different, and we'll choose a location and pace that helps them feel comfortable and successful throughout the session.
What if Bay Area weather is doing its thing?
The East Bay tends to be a little more predictable than San Francisco, but Mother Nature still likes to keep things interesting. If conditions are unsafe or likely to affect the quality of your session, we'll simply reschedule.
A little cloud cover is often fantastic for photos, and some of my favorite sessions have happened under dramatic skies. And if you've secretly been waiting for your dog's iconic "main character in the rain" moment, just say the word and we'll make it happen.
Can I choose more than one location?
Yes, but most of my sessions are centered around one main location so your dog can settle in and we can really make the most of it. The good news is, most East Bay spots already come with plenty of variety built in, from open fields to trails and shoreline light, often all in one place.

Do you create custom artwork or prints?
Yes, and I approach the final images with that in mind from the start.
After your session, you’ll get a curated gallery, and from there you can choose your favourites and turn them into prints, wall art, or keepsakes if you want something more physical and intentional.
A lot of what I create ends up as pieces people actually hang, gift, or keep around their space, not just sit in a camera roll somewhere.
What’s included in an East Bay session?
Your session includes the photoshoot itself (usually around 2 hours, with flexibility for your dog), guidance throughout so you’re never left wondering what to do, and a curated online gallery with 30+ images to choose from after your shoot.
You’ll then select your favorite images and decide how (or if) you’d like to turn them into prints or artwork.
